Cliff has published two childrens books about adoptions and is now working on his third adoption book about a child who is adopted from overseas by a loving family in New York City. I See You, I See Me - This is a story about a young girl who is adopted when she is a baby. As an eight-year old, she tells us about her secret: she has a magic mirror that she uses to see her birth mother. Although she doesn't remember her birth mother very well, she sees that they look alike and wonders if her birth mother ever misses her. She shares her secret with her adoptive mother, whom she loves very much. As the little girl looks into another mirror, she comes to realize after some guidance by her adoptive mother that being a family does not mean looking alike. It means loving each other. And it means that whats inside a persons heart is most important.
My Grandma is My New Mommy - In this story, a young boy and his little sister have been removed from their parents home on a temporary basis to go live with their grandma. Several years pass by, and the childrens parents remain unable to care for them. Their grandma explains what adoption is and the young boy realizes that this is the best option for them. Even though he doesn't call his grandma Mommy, the adoption makes legal that which has been obvious on an emotional level all along their grandma is the childrens new mommy.
